Planning A Mitzvah
Time for a mitzvah? Don’t forget the adults
Sure, the bar mitzvah or bat mitzvah you’re planning is all about the guest of honor: your child!
Still, if adults will be invited to the event, you should take measures to ensure they have a great time as well. Consider, for example, a separate menu for adults and children.
If you really want to spoil your adult guests, you might even think about adding a bar package to your event. If you choose to go that route, just be sure that there are local taxi numbers available (or think about renting a shuttle) so everybody can get home from the mitzvah safely.
Secure Your Date in Advance
Bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs tend to be huge celebrations and thus often require many months of planning, in addition to a venue that’s large enough to accommodate everybody comfortably. For this reason, it’s not unheard of for popular New Jersey bar mitzvah and bat mitzvah venues to book up months or even years in advance.
If you have your heart set on a specific venue for your child’s event—for example, Berkeley Hotel—look into meeting with venue staff and putting a deposit down as soon as you can. Otherwise, it may not be available when it comes time to dive into your mitzvah planning. (Contact us if you’d like to get started.)
Consider Out-of-Town Guests
If you’ll be inviting a lot of out-of-town guests to your child’s mitzvah, take extra measures to ensure their comfort. For example, why not set up a block of hotels close to the bar mitzvah or bat mitzvah location? A hotel block is a great way to keep your out-of-town guests together, and possibly help save them some money on lodging in the process. Some hotels will even include a free shuttle to and from the mitzvah location so guests don’t need to worry about navigating unfamiliar streets.
The Residence Inn Tinton Falls, Sheraton Eatontown Hotel, and Homewood Suites Eatontown are all just a short trip from Buona Sera Palazzo.
Get Creative With Entertainment
There are so many great entertainment options to consider for your child’s mitzvah outside of the traditional DJ. One trend that is becoming very popular at bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs is the professional photography booth—which allows each guest to bring home their own unique photo memento from the event. If you’re already hiring a photographer for the event, consider asking if your photographer offers photo booth services. You may be able to get a great deal by purchasing these as a package rather than individually.
In addition to a photo booth, you may also want to consider other entertainment options such as magicians, comedians, face painters, caricature artists, and more.
And if you’re doing a themed mitzvah, you may even want to consider brainstorming entertainment options that fit your theme. Explore options with your child and see what you’re able to come up with!
